Potato gratin

Perhaps you can see that I was hooked on making potato dishes one day. I had about 13 potatoes going bad and I needed to make stuff. So I spent my day on the mandolin, slicing potatoes for all kinds of dishes!
This turned out really yummy, although I think I used too much milk and then ended up pouring out the excess liquid. But all in all, the flavor was awesome — milk, butter, gruyere, parmesan, cheddar, monterey jack, nutmeg, garlic, onions. I layered the pie plate with sliced potatoes, onions, more potatoes, then poured the liquid, added cheese, and panko bread crumbs. There are so many different types of scalloped potato dishes that I just decided to make my own version — the only thing I didn’t have was heavy cream, otherwise, I used just about every ingredient that all the other recipes called for. đŸ™‚
