Best $5 spent: sushi making class!

My school offered this one off class from 2:30 – 5pm today. It was awesome…Usually the class is $125 — so we definitely got the hook up! We first started off learning how to wash then cook the rice. We were then taught how to make our own sushi vinegar (as opposed to the store bought). Then we got rolling with tamago maki (egg), cucumber maki, takuan maki (sweet radish pickle made from daikon), shiitake maki, california roll (rice and black sesame seed on the outside, seaweed, imitation crab, and avocado on the inside), salmon nigiri, and yellowtail nigiri. Yes, we each (20 of us) made all of the above, and boy, it was a feast! 🙂

We ended up learning a lot on proper technique and form. It makes me excited to practice at home! 😀
